What is Racing League?
Think Formula 1 — but for horse racing. Seven regional teams go head-to-head across six thrilling weeks of competition, with Thursday the 24th of July bringing the action to Great Yarmouth. Across 42 high-stakes races at top UK racecourses, it’s more than just racing — it’s a showcase of regional pride, strategy, and elite talent. Following Wales & The West’s impressive 2024 victory, all eyes are now on the early Racing League standings.
Each team has the chance to earn 100 points per race, depending on their placing. The team with the highest amount of points at the end of the competition will be crowned the winners. Over £2m in prize money is up for grabs and is distributed to the owners, trainers, jockeys and yards as per standard BHA distribution.
What happens?
Each team is led by a Team Manager, who is responsible for selecting the lineup for each race. The squad includes a core group of regional trainers, with the option to bring in additional trainers as the competition progresses. Jockeys are also chosen by the Team Manager and remain exclusive to their team throughout the event.
The Team Manager — a well-known figure from the industry! The 2024 captains include Group One-winning trainer Jamie Osborne, TV presenter Mick Quinn, and Love Island star Chris Hughes. With personalities like these, expect plenty of friendly rivalry and entertaining banter throughout the competition!
Great Yarmouth is your chance to see which team comes out strong in the first stage of this year's battle for the crown.
