Venue Etiquette

If you’re new to horse racing, or visiting Great Yarmouth races for the first time, you may have a few questions, such as what to wear, or if you can bring a picnic lunch. We answer some of our guests most asked questions below.

What to Wear - Premier Enclosure

In our private hospitality, restaurants, champagne bar and premier enclosure, the dress code is smart casual, which includes smart jeans and tailored shorts with smart footwear.  Sportswear, beachwear, casual shorts, trainers and ripped jeans are not permitted.

(Gentleman are requested to keep their shirts on at all times)

What to wear - Ladies Night and Eastern Festival Ladies Day

On our feature race days, racegoers do enjoy dressing up for the occasion, with many wearing dresses and donning hats, but this is not obligatory. Don't forget men can join us too.

Can I bring my own food & drink?
Picnics are allowed at the course or in the car parks before, after or during racing. However, please note, you are not permitted to bring alcohol or BBQ's onto the racecourse. Picnics are only permitted on the Grandstand and Paddock lawn and cannot be taken onto the Premier Lawn.

Can I bring a dog?
With the exception of service dogs, dogs are not permitted to enter the racecourse. In the interests of animal welfare, no dogs are permitted to be left in cars and Great Yarmouth Racecourse politely requests that all dogs are left at home.

Can I take photographs?
At all meetings, we kindly request that no flash photography takes place near the horses. Otherwise, you are welcome to take photographs for personal non-commercial use only. You are not permitted to take photos for commercial use without prior permission from the racecourse office.
